How Media Proxy works

Direct endpoint-to-endpoint media works fine until it does not — symmetric NAT, asymmetric routing, and carriers that will not accept media from an unknown IP all produce the same symptom: one-way or no audio. VoipXDialer Media Proxy terminates and re-originates the RTP stream at a point of presence close to both legs, so signalling and media follow a path you control.

Beyond connectivity, the proxy is where you enforce policy. Encrypt with SRTP on the public leg, transcode between codecs when the far end will not negotiate, anchor media for lawful recording, and expose per-call jitter, loss and MOS so quality problems are diagnosed with data instead of guesswork.
